What is a heart scan?

A heart scan takes pictures of the heart via ultrasound. Dr. Jaligam facilitates this service using a handheld wand placed over the chest. The ultrasound technology produces visuals of the heart, allowing us to check its functions and structure. At Jaggu Health, we provide an option for a heart scan in Vienna called an Echocardiogram. This particular scan allows for guided visuals, is noninvasive, and uses no radiation. This makes an echocardiogram different from services like an x-ray or a CT scan that uses minimal radiation.

When would I need a heart scan?

There are many scenarios that prompt a need for a heart scan. At Jaggu Health, we pride ourselves in specializing in preventative care. If you have a prior diagnosis, he will regularly monitor your progress. We require a scan as part of pre-op clearance procedures prior to surgery.

What can I expect from a heart scan?

When you arrive for your heart scan, Dr. Jaligam will carefully guide you through the process. We provide a hospital gown for the scan to keep you comfortable and warm. Try to relax and breathe normally while Dr. Jaligam places the handheld wand on your chest. The service can take 20 minutes with the device taking pictures of your heart for further study. After the scan, wait for Dr. Jaligam to look over the images. Once the review is complete, he will go over the images with you. It may be on the same day or we will schedule a follow-up visit. You will have access to your results via our online patient portal.
