We are seeking a dependable, compassionate, and detail-oriented Medical Assistant to support our clinical team and help create an exceptional experience for every patient.
Position Summary
The Medical Assistant will support Provider with patient care, clinical procedures, documentation, and daily office operations. The ideal candidate is organized, professional, comfortable with technology, and able to communicate warmly with patients while working efficiently in a fast-paced clinical environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Welcome patients and prepare them for their appointments
- Obtain and document vital signs, medical histories, medication lists, allergies, and the reason for each visit
- Accurately enter and update patient information in the electronic health record
- Assist Provider during examinations, treatments, and in-office procedures
- Perform EKGs, phlebotomy, specimen collection, injections, and point-of-care testing, according to training and applicable regulations
- Prepare examination and procedure rooms and ensure that supplies are properly stocked
- Clean and disinfect rooms and equipment in accordance with infection-control standards
- Process prescription refill requests and communicate provider instructions within the scope of the role
- Coordinate laboratory tests, imaging, referrals, and prior authorizations
- Contact patients regarding appointments, results, follow-up instructions, and care coordination as directed by the clinical team
- Help manage incoming calls, patient portal messages, medical records, and clinical forms
- Maintain patient confidentiality and comply with HIPAA and all applicable policies
- Support other clinical and administrative duties as needed
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Completion of a recognized Medical Assistant program or equivalent clinical experience
- Current Medical Assistant certification or registration
- Current Basic Life Support certification, or willingness to obtain it
- Strong communication, organization, and time-management skills
- Ability to maintain accuracy while managing multiple priorities
- Professional, compassionate, and patient-focused demeanor
- Working knowledge of HIPAA, infection control, and clinical safety practices
- Comfortable using electronic health records and standard office technology
Preferred Qualifications
- Two or more years of Medical Assistant experience
- Experience in cardiology, internal medicine, functional medicine, or a specialty outpatient practice
- Proficiency in phlebotomy, EKG acquisition, injections, and specimen processing
- Experience with prior authorizations, referrals, and medication reconciliation
- Bilingual or multilingual communication skills
- Familiarity with patient portals, telehealth, and electronic prescribing workflows
